SSIP Will Co-produce a Documentary BRAND

Renmin University of China Academy of Intellectual Property, Beijing Sunshine Intellectual Property and Legal Development Foundation (SSIP) and Beijing trans-Culture Co., Ltd. are going to produce a documentary series entitled “Brand.” This is an initiative to promote China to transform from a big nation in economy to a powerful nation in economy. It is also an initiative to implement the Outline of National Innovation Driven Development Strategy, the National IP Strategy, and the State Council’s Opinions on Using Brands to Promote the Update of Economic Structure for Demand and Supply.

Before the arrival of the first “Day of Chinese Brands,” the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce sent a reply letter to Academy of IP RUC and SSIP stating that they will support the filming of the documentage and will be the advisor to the documentary. The reply letter expressed the hope that Academy of IP RUC would rely on their expertise to film a documentary that would illustrate the rule of how brands grow, the importance of trademark registration, protection, application and management of brands, and show the right ways of building brands, so as to increase public awareness of trademark and brands and to promote China’s trademark protection and brand building.

Brands are the monument of history. They bears the culture and tradition of a nation. And they reflect the spirit of a nation. Brands also reflect the innovation capacity, spirit of craftsmanship, modern manangerial skills of a nation and a nation’s capacity to coordinate all positive elements. They are also a fruit of IP protection. Brands are a bridge to link the past, the present and the future of a nation. It is reported that the team to film the Brand promise to see this job as their destiny. Rely on the expertise of IP academic, educational, industrial, judicial and administrative groups, and authorities from international organizations, Asia, Europe, the United States, the team promised to make a brilliant and influential documentary for the nation.

General Secretary Jinping Xi pointed out that it is necessary to promote the transformation of “Made in China” to “Created in China,” the transformation of “Chinese speed” to “Chinese quality,” and the transformation of “Chinese products” to “Chinese brands.” The General Secretary also proposed to stick to “Confidence doctrine” and stressed that “cultural self-confidence is more basic, broader and deeper self-confidence.” Doing a good job in brand building is not only a historical mission, but also an important annotation and footnote of “cultural confidence.” It is of special and far-reaching significance to shoot a documentary series like “Brand” at the crucial point of China's economic development and to present a gift to the Party’s 19th National Congress.
