On January 18 and 19, the first “International Symposium on Judicial Protection for Intellectual Property: Challenge and Response” hosted by Renmin University of China School of Law, Supreme People’s Court Research Base for Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property (Renmin University of China), Renmin University of China Intellectual Property Academy and Renmin University of China International Intellectual Property Research Center, sponsored by SSIP, was held in Beijing Friendship Hotel.
On the ceremony, Professor GUO He, Vice President and Secretary General of the China Law Society Intellectual Property Law Association, delivered the welcome speech. Justice WANG Chuang, Vice Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Intellectual Property Court, gave a keynote speech on “New Development of Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property in China,”
Justice Klauss Butcher from Supreme Court of Germany, Justice Christopher Freud from the Court of Appeal of England, Judge Andrew Guilford and Judge Mathew Kennerly from United States District Courts, Justice ZHOU Xiang, Vice Chief Justice of Supreme People’s Court Intellectual Property Court, Justice ZHU Li and Justice JIAO Junyan also from Supreme People’s Court Intellectual Property Court, Judge YANG Boyong, Commissioner for Beijing Higher People’s Court Adjudication Commission, Judge SONG Jian from Jiangsu Province Higher People’s Court and other 20 judges from China were invited to the symposium and delivered speeches. In this one-and-a-half day symposium, participants discussed on international subjects such as “Anti-suit injunction and injunction in Intellectual Property Litigation,” “The Determination of FRAND Rate for SEP and Antitrust Regulation for the Abuse of SEP rights” in depth in the form of keynote speeches, speeches and roundtable dialogues.
