The 7th Forum on Innovation China and IP Protection Themed on “Protecting IP to Promote Economic Development” Was Successfully Held

On October 19, 2019, the 7^th Forum on Innovation China and Intellectual Property Protection Themed on “Protecting Intellectual Property to Promote Economic Development” sponsored by SSIP, hosted by China Law Society Intellectual Property Law Association, Supreme People’s Court Research Base (Renmin University of China) for Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property, Renmin University of China Intellectual Property Academy and Renmin University of China International Research Center for Intellectual Property was successfully held in Renmin University of China.

The openning ceremony of the forum was hosted by Prof. GUO He, the Associate Dean of Renmin University of China Intellectual Property Academy. Justice ZHOU Xiang, the Vice Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Intellectual Property Court and Mr. WU Kai, Senior Consultant of WIPO China Office delivered a speech respectively. The Forum invited scholars from Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Nankai Univeristy, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Technology and Business University, justices and judges from the Supreme People’s Court, Beijing Intellectual Property Court, Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court, Jiangsu Higher People’s Court, Chengdu Intellectual Property Tribunal, attorneys from LIU SHEN & Associates, LIFANG & Partners as well as representatives from the National Intellectual Property Operation Platform, WIPO Beijing Office, IP House and other enterprises, to discuss on the four topcis, including the improvement of the design patent system, AI and its patent protection, punitive damages and the transformation of technological innovations. 

By far, the Innovation China and Intellectual Property Protection Forum has been held for 7 years. By inviting experts, scholars, judges and lawyers in the field of intellectual property to discuss difficult issues encountered in the implementation of China’s innovation-driven development strategy, it has greatly affected the theoretical and practical circles in the field of intellectual property and has an influential effect on the development of the rule of law in China.
