Social Organizations in Beijing Actively Fulfill Their Social Responsibility and Go All Out to Help Win the Battle of Prevention and Control Covid-19

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the majority of social organizations in our city have actively responded to the call, exerting their respective strengths and advantages, and participating in the prevention and control of the pandemic in an orderly manner, which fully demonstrates the responsibility and love of the social organizations in Beijing.

 

I. Charitable Organizations Raise Aid Supplies from Multiple Channels

After the epidemic occurred, the Committee and Bureau opened a public fund-raising record system for charitable organizations to provide services 24 hours. So far, more than 200 foundations in the city have raised about 1.2 billion yuan for epidemic prevention and control, and raised more than 7.2 million pieces of masks, protective clothing and other materials. While making sure the collection of money and materials, the Committee and Bureau timely and accurately publish relevant information through WeChat, Weibo and “Charity China” platforms, standardize the work process, strengthen daily service supervision, and make money and materials fast in and out, open and transparent. According to a recent report from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the total amount of money raised and donated by charitable organizations in Beijing is among the highest in the country.

 

II. Industry Organizations Serve Enterprises in Various Forms

Beijing’s more than 700 industry associations and chambers of commerce issued mobilization and initiatives to the nearly 350,000 member companies they served, demanding that them to enhance epidemic prevention and control on the one hand, and to resume market supply and production on the other hand. The first is to mobilize enterprises to fulfill their social responsibilities and make donations and materials for combating the epidemic. Beijing Hubei Enterprise Chamber of Commerce organized members to donate 200 million yuan and 70 million yuan for epidemic prevention materials to their hometowns. The second is to strengthen industry self-discipline and code of conduct to ensure the stability of the market in Beijing. Develop industry prevention and control guidelines, guide member companies to implement the deployment requirements of the Party and the government. Companies should do their job on the prevention and control of the pandemic, adhere to the rules and regulations, strengthen industry integrity, ensure that there is no fraud, no price increase, no hoarding, and guarantee price, quality and supply. The Beijing Logistics Chamber of Commerce leads member companies to actively fulfill their social responsibilities, collectively promising that logistics will not increase prices, more than one hundred freight vehicles will respond, and free services will be provided for the needs in preventing the pandemic. The third is to promptly investigate and understand the business situation and demands of industry enterprises, and help enterprises to resume work and production. The Committee dand Bureau has analyzed and formed industry information big data. At present, nearly one hundred suggestions and reports have been compiled and submitted to the relevant departments. The content involves industry development, emergency protection, market supply, and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. The fourth is to implement precise assistance to help enterprises overcome difficulties. Encourage member units to give relevant enterprises, merchants and various business entities rent reduction and decompression, and help solve problems such as financing channels, material security and logistics transportation. The Capital Financial Services Chamber of Commerce united several member financial institutions to provide 1 billion yuan in bail-out funds and launched the “Small, Medium, and Micro-Cultural Enterprises Assistance Program.”

 

III. Scientific and Technological Organizations Promote the Prevention of Covid-19

Scientific and technological social organizations represented by Zhongguancun social organizations give full play to the advantages of technology resource integration, coordinate the medical equipment, pharmaceutical industry and other member units to carry out the production and processing of medically-needed supplies, and guide 5G, artificial intelligence, remote monitoring and other high-tech enterprises to provide scientific and technological assistance. They support the endeavor of preventing and controlling the pandemic by their practical efforts. Beijing Telecom Technology Development Industry Association coordinates the technical expertise of member companies and provides services for remote consultation, body temperature measurement, disinfection and cleaning, and medicine delivery through 5G + telemedicine, intelligent robots, unmanned driving, and other scientific and technological means to improve the level of ward isolation control and reduce cross-infection. The Zhongguancun Habitat Environmental Engineering and Materials Research Institute developed the "nano-visible light catalytic antibacterial" purification liquid, which was used in the killing, prevention and control of Covid-19 in Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital. Zhongguancun Spatial Information Industry Technology Alliance mobilized member units to develop "grid community epidemic prevention and control system", including grid patrol, data tracking, epidemic dynamic monitoring, data analysis and visual display, integrated command, etc. The system has been in use in Beijing, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Guiyang and other cities. 

 

IV. Professional Organizations Provides Professional Support

Professional and academic social organizations and social work organizations exert their professional expertise and participate in prevention and control work in various ways such as medical care consultation, mental health counseling, cultural and educational activities, care for persons with disabilities, and legal service, and enrich the culture of citizens during the outbreak, making positive contributions to the promotion of physical and mental health, and maintain social stability. The “Beijing Covid-19 Pneumonia Online Doctor Consultation Platform” sponsored by the Beijing Medical Association has provided citizens with free service 24/7, with a total of 24.46 million visits to the platform. Beijing Autism Rehabilitation Society provides autistic children's rehabilitation knowledge network courses suitable for home study and operation for workers of autism rehabilitation education institutions and autism parents across the country. Beijing Zhicheng Social Organization Mediation and Research Center provides remote legal services for people in need, and provides legal support for public welfare donations for epidemic prevention and control. Social service organizations, such as the Beijing Collaborator Social Work Development Center, provide professional services such as psychological counseling, conflict resolution, caring for empty nesters, caring for children in dilemma, and enriching cultural life through community interview, online micro-classes, and telephone hotlines.

 

V. Volunteers Contribute Their Efforts

More than 2,300 volunteer service agencies and social organizations in community in Beijing actively participated in the investigation of community residents, publicity and mobilization, logistics support, convenience services, and assistance to the needy people, becoming an important force in community epidemic prevention. So far, municipal social service agencies have carried out more than 200,000 volunteer service activities. The Beijing Charity and Volunteer Federation mobilizes community volunteer organizations to go deeper into the streets and communities to publicize epidemic prevention knowledge, carry out statistics on the epidemic situation of socially supported families, and carry out investigation and registration of migrants and returnees. The Beijing Social Psychology Association launched the "Beijing-Hubei iWill Volunteer Joint Action", and more than 1,000 volunteers formed the "psychological counselor + physician + social worker" trinity assistance model for Wuhan front-line volunteers, community workers and residents for psychological counseling and other services. Six psychological counseling hotlines were opened, and 33 national psychological counselors at or above level two were provided to provide answering services. The Beijing Blue Sky Rescue Team and the Blue Sky Rescue Teams of various districts have exerted their professional expertise. They have completed a total of 3,059 disinfection missions, and a total of 7,471 people have participated in the disinfection missions. The cumulative service time is up to 3748 hours, and the total number of beneficiaries is about 15 million.
