General Conference of the Second China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Legal Advisory Committee on Economic and Trade Frictions, Release Ceremony of Global Economic and Trade Measures Index (GETM) and Launching Meeting of Cross-border Trade and Investment Legal Service (CTILS) was held on December 18. Representatives from the Department of Regional Opening of National Development and Reform Commission (Office of the Leading Group for Promoting the Belt and Road Initiative), the Department of International Cooperation of Ministry of Justice, PRC, the Bureau of Trade Remedy and Investment of Ministry of Commerce, PRC, related societies, enterprises, schools, law firms and research organizations attended the conference. The conference was broadcast live globally in a combination of online and offline, which attracted more than 200,000 online viewers.
The General Conference of the Second CCPIT Legal Advisory Committee on Economic and Trade Frictions was chaired first by Liu Chao, the director of Law Department of CCPIT. Prof. Liu Chuntian participated in this conference online. The list of new members of the Second CCPIT Legal Advisory Committee on Economic and Trade Frictions was announced in the conference and Prof. Liu Chuntian, the dean of School of Intellectual Property at Renmin University of China and president of the Intellectual Property Law Association of the China Law Society, was elected as the deputy director and the advisory member of the second CCPIT Legal Advisory Committee on Economic and Trade Frictions. Zhang Yuejiao, the former chairman of Appellate Body, honorary chairman of International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization and professor of School of Law in Tsinghua University, was elected as the director of the second committee.
Since 2016, the CCPIT Legal Advisory Committee on Economic and Trade Frictions has made great contributions in the management of economic and trade frictions. The committee does not only collect and provide the latest laws and regulations on economic and trade frictions and dynamic information of enterprises, but also assists enterprises and industries to respond to foreign trade remedy investigation. Moreover, the committee also helps enterprises solve new problems and actively provides professional suggestion for the formulation of relevant rules. The new committee will be composed of 76 representatives, including famous lawyers, scholars, researchers from home and abroad, in order to meet the current normal of global economic and trade frictions that is becoming increasingly complex, technological and diversified and the needs of enterprises. At the meantime, the second CCPIT Legal Advisory Committee on Economic and Trade Frictions will be subdivided into five groups: International Trade, Cross-border Investment, Intellectual Property, Dispute Settlement and International regulation according to the area of business. The working groups will independently or jointly offer consulting services for the enterprises according to their situation, which tends to respond to the need of various enterprises specifically.
