UNESCO declared April 23 as “World Book and Copyright Day”, which was also called “World Reading Day” in 1995. On this day, various kinds of reading activities and celebration are held to improve the reading, publishing and protection of intellectual property over the world. In order to increase public awareness of intellectual property and promote the development of intellectual property legal system, Beijing Sunshine Intellectual Property and Legal Development Foundation (SSIP) organizes a series of online sharing activities for intellectual property books in 2020, which is called Intellectual Fortune Reading Club. The Club plans to read the books in “Intellectual Property Translation Classics (Vol. 5)” published by Intellectual Property Publishing House. In the Club, authors or translators of the books are invited to share the main contents in the books and expound the academic value of them.
The first activity of Intellectual Fortune Reading Club will be held from 19:30 to 20:30 on April 23, the “World Reading Day”, with Tencent Meeting online. Combined with the hot spots under the COVID-19, the Club plans to read the book Pharmaceutical Innovation, Competition and Patent Law, which is one of “Intellectual Property Translation Classics (Vol. 5)”.
Introduction to the book
Public health, safety, and acceptable drug pricing are the common policy goals ofdrug regulations. Industry participants challenge, protect and encourage the balance of the achievement among those goals under the change of the innovation and competition pattern. From the perspective of innovation, Pharmaceutical Innovation, Competition and Patent Law studies the difficulties of balance between protection and drug accessibility and highlights the problem between the unification and coordination. Besides, the book explores the issue how to use patent strategy and life cycle principle to manage practices in the field of pharmaceutical innovation. The book is suitable for scholars and staff in intellectual property, competition law, life science regulations, pharmaceutical companies and regulatory agencies.
